Caldicot Food Bank has been served an eviction notice on its warehouse
For the last four and a half years Caldicot Food Bank have been ‘Peppercorn Rent’ tenants of the Aneurin Bevan NHS Trust. We’ve paid no rent, no community charge/commercial rates, no service charge for the likes of electricity and water, and no insurance on this property.
When we moved in we were told they couldn’t guarantee us any time span, and informed us we might have to move with a month’s notice.
Now we’ve been given over six months notice. They couldn’t have been fairer or nicer!
At the time we moved in the Trust thought the building might be pulled down. Now they’re talking about being there for at least another ten years!
And the reason they need our space? It’s so that the NHS Trust can develop health care in that clinic and bring in Social Services to work alongside the medical teams. With an eye on the extra thirty thousand people expected to be located in the Magor-Portskewett area over the next thirty years; with two completely new communities being planned, the need for NHS services will increase.
But so too will the need for a Food Bank, and we need to find a new home for our Warehouse.
How can you help?
Lets start with prayer. The Lord has his reasons for this challenge and we can do no worse than putting the need to God.
Caldicot Food Bank, supported by Caldicot & District Churches Together, is looking for a premise for its Warehouse. If you can help, or know someone that might be able to house us, please call our Chairman, David Flint, on telephone: 01291 423551. Alternatively you can e-mail us at [email protected]Thank you.
And thank you for your continued interest. We’ll not be moving until after the new year, so please keep up the donations: they’re important to us.
