Langstone Primary School – Harvest & ‘Shoe Box’ Service + Pictures of boxes at Llantrisant ready for Albania

Mrs B. A. Cole
Head Teacher

By the kind invitation of Mrs Cole and her teaching staff, Margaret and Preben Andersen and Roger Simms, all from Caldicot Methodist Church, took their cars to the assembly, where we had been informed that all harvest proceeds this year would go to Samaritan’s Purse by way of the shoe boxes filled to bursting by the pupils, families and friends. With our church being one of the national collections points, well over 320 boxes were taken back with us after the assembly.

Margaret spoke warmly and with plenty of illustrations about the work of Samaritan’s Purse, and Rev. Preben also briefly added his support for the charity and offered a short prayer. The children of the various classes sang and spoke beautifully as encouraged by their teachers, and it was a joy to see also so many parents and other adult supporters for them – and indeed for the three of us – in the assembly hall also.

The pictures show the children helping us get the hundreds of boxes into two cars as the Reverend had to leave a little early in his to get back to Caldicot for a funeral. Everybody at the school were reminded that the Samaritan’s Purse/Shoebox service is at Caldicot Methodist Church on Sunday, November 19th at 10 a.m. The service will be taken by Margaret Andersen, with a Speaker from the charity, and Roger Simms will also share with everybody his own memories of the very special assembly. On that Sunday, ALL boxes collected and taken to the church will be placed on the lorry immediately after the service for their onward journey round the world to the children who would not otherwise have a present to open this Christmas.

Thank you to one and all at Langstone primary school for their invitation and incredible generosity, and if some of you can make it on November 19th, we’d love to see you.

The children were really great helpers getting over 200 boxes into just two small cars.

All are invited To Caldicot Methodist Church on:-

19th November at 10am
